 Post subject: Maintaining your edge

I used to spend my days interacting with people - defining problems, brainstorming solutions, making action plans. There was also social time - joking with each other, discussing current events, even gossiping. Now that I work at home I do all those things but I'm primarily interacting with pixels and I notice I don't think on my feet as fast as I used to. The information is still there but the retrieval mechanism has gotten sluggish. I've lost my edge.

If your edge is still sharp, how do you keep it that way?

If it's gotten a little dull, what are some ideas for getting it sharp again?

Sarah, you're right. It is easy to lose your edge when you work alone alot. That's why I think it's important to stay active outside of your working world. Working as a volunteer not only provides a valuable service for your community (and good causes) but also provides needed interaction with others. It also says a lot about who you are, what type of person you are as well as providing GREAT PR for your work at home business.

Some worthy organizations include: food banks, senior citizen centers, youth organizations, local colleges

Working as a volunteer is a great idea, Terri! I think it's important to maintain connections with friends and family but even that doesn't always provide the kind of interactions that really challenge the brain. Volunteering would provide stimulation similar to that in a work environment, but probably without as much stress. And there's the added benefit of doing something that helps others. A win-win situation.
