The Fortune 500 List

The 2022 list is Fortune’s 68th ranking of America’s biggest businesses. According to Fortune, “…it was a blowout year for the companies featured—despite rising inflation, the ongoing supply chain crisis, and the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic.” Collectively, the businesses included on Fortune’s 2022 list generated a record $16.1 trillion in revenue and nearly $2 trillion in profits.

In compiling the Fortune 500 for 2022, Fortune cataloged data on company records and achievements. Where relevant, we have highlighted some of these key findings in our report. For example, we noted if a business experienced growth in jobs for the year, employs a female CEO, or is also one of Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For.”

Ranking Remote Enabled Fortune 500 Companies

While no one could argue the financial prowess of the Fortune 500, we wondered how successful these companies are at attracting modern workers seeking flexibility from their careers. In our most recent survey of U.S. workers, we learned today’s jobseekers want remote jobs that will allow them to work from home 100% of the time. Could the Fortune 500 deliver? The answer was a resounding yes.

We compared the Fortune 500 list for 2022 against our Remote Companies Database to determine 25 of the biggest U.S. companies actively hiring jobseekers for fully remote job postings. Fully remote jobs are home-based roles that do not require workers to travel for business. On February 1 of this year, we updated our job posting policy to ensure all remote jobs added to our database are fully remote.

Ten remote-friendly career fields are represented among our list of “Remote Enabled Fortune 500 Companies” for 2022. Select any of the industry names below to view current remote job postings from that telecommuting category on the Virtual Vocations Job Board.

Nine of the top 25 remote enabled Fortune 500 companies are also featured on our ranking of “Top 100 Companies to Watch for Remote Jobs in 2022.” The list is our sixth annual analysis of the 100 best companies for remote hiring. Businesses awarded this designation are labeled on our top 25 list to follow.

25 Remote Enabled Fortune 500 Companies Hiring Remote Workers

1. Amazon

In the last year, Amazon experienced growth in jobs. Amazon ranks 29th on Virtual Vocations’ “Top 100 Companies to Watch for Remote Jobs in 2022.”

Amazon is a multinational internet retailer and the world’s largest online marketplace. The company provides a platform for selling books and media as well as household goods, apparel, and furniture. Amazon also produces its own streaming and downloadable content and offers a variety of subscription services.

2. CVS Health

CVS Health is one of four businesses in the top 25 with a female CEO. In the last year, CVS Health experienced growth in jobs and ranks 54th on our “Top 100 Companies to Watch for Remote Jobs in 2022” list.

CVS Health is an American healthcare company providing health solutions and delivering care through its brands including CVS Pharmacy, CVS Caremark, and Aetna. In the 1960s, CVS Health began as a health and beauty retailer and quickly added pharmaceutical services to its business model.

3. UnitedHealth Group

UnitedHealth Group is another remote enabled employer that experienced growth in jobs throughout the last year. UHG is also took the top spot on Virtual Vocations’ “Top 100 Companies to Watch for Remote Jobs in 2022.”

UnitedHealth Group (UHG) is a managed healthcare and insurance company that works to increase healthcare choices, reduce costs, and improve the patient experience. The company is dedicated to creating diverse and inclusive work teams and strives to create an environment where individual contributions are recognized and celebrated.

Microsoft is an American multinational tech powerhouse that manufactures and sells personal computers and consumer electronics. The company also offers computer software and technology solutions, including the Microsoft Suite of home office products and Outlook email and calendar services.

Target Brands, Inc. owns and operates Target retail locations globally. This retail gain sells clothing, health and beauty, automotive, electronics, home furnishings, and many other household and lifestyle products. Some target locations also have pharmacies and clinics for basic healthcare needs.
