Senior Production Editor

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Senior Production Editor to manage complex, design-intensive titles from manuscript to bound book.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage 20-25 original titles per year from manuscript transmittal to bound book using electronic workflow
• Oversee reprints and prepare manuscripts for design and typesetting
• Hire and supervise freelance copyeditors, proofreaders, and indexers, and review their work

Required Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of production editorial experience, particularly with cookbooks or heavily illustrated books
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word and Adobe Acrobat
• Knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style and conscious language guidelines
• Ability to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Experience in identifying and retaining capable editorial freelancers is a plus
